Hello World...

Greetings to all my fellow classmates from Atlanta, GA!

My name is Matt Hinson and I hail from Kennesaw, GA; a suburb of Atlanta about 20 miles northwest of the heart of downtown.  I just celebrated 10 months of marriage today with my beautiful wife Caressa!  Thanks to Boston University for the anniversary gift of classes starting today!  As you can see in the pictures above, we have two 'children'; Dakota, our Siberian Husky (puppy) and Emma, our Black Lab.  Emma is a daddy's girl!  However, Dakota is a handful and makes me so angry at times that I can't even finish sentences, haha!  But, with one look at his face, all is forgiven; he is quite handsome isn't he?!

Introduction to E-commerce will be my 3rd class here at Boston University within the M.S. Project Management program.  I completed my undergraduate work at the University of Georgia with a B.A in Management Information Systems and an A.S. in Network Engineering from Athens Techical College.  I elected to pursue an M.S. in project management in order to improve my business acumen and to gain a specialty skill set that is quite versatile and integrates with several functional roles within the business sector.  After I complete the M.S. Project Management program here at Boston University, I hope to pursure an M.B.A from Emory University in Atlanta, GA as I aspire to leverage what I have learned along the way academically and professionally to prepare me to obtain my career goals of becoming a senior level executive later in my career.  Specifically, I aspire to be a CTO; such a position requires a strong technical background to go along with a business savvy and strategic, forward-thinking mindset.

I currently work for Lockheed Martin as a Senior Systems Engineer as part of the Enterprise Engineering & Operations team where I am a subject matter expert in Microsoft's System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) technology.  I am tasked with engineering solutions to help better manage approximately 120,000 machines across several different functional areas of SCCM.  While I specialize in SCCM, I am also a Microsoft Certified Information Technology Professional Enterprise Administrator (MCITP:EA) with vast experience with other Microsoft server solutions and technologies such as SharePoint (Web Portals  -- such as blogs!) and Exchange (E-mail).

If you look to the right, you'll see some pictures that represent my hobbies and interests.  I am a very passionate University of Georgia Bulldogs fan!  I grew up 45 minutes from Athens, GA and as a young pup myself, watched my older brother Mike play for the Bulldogs from 1989-1993.  So, it was destined for me to follow in his footsteps and attend UGA as well.  I'm also an avid golfer and follower of the PGA tour.  I am quite excited for August to come as the PGA Championship, one of the PGA Tour's major championships, will be in Atlanta this year and I will be attending!  I am also a 'foodie' and self-proclaimed amateur chef as my mother owns a restaurant in my hometown and she taught me how to cook as I grew up.  One of my wife and I's favorite activities to do is to go out and try new restaurants and foods from all over the place.  We also love cooking together and I'm attempting to teach her what my mom taught me, haha -- just kidding!  My wife is an excellent cook also!  Finally, I love to SCUBA dive!  My wife and I went SCUBA diving on our honeymoon in Kauai, Hawaii.  We loved it so much that we are in the process of becoming certifed divers.  I would highly recommend it to anyone as it is a thrilling experience.

I look forward to all the introductions, conversations, and learning opportunities throughout the class.  Good luck to everyone and I'm sure we'll be talking soon!
